[dvd::rip] Setting locale

Hi,
I installed dvd::rip 0.52.5 on Ubuntu 6, and generating ans saving VOBs on my 
harddisk worked perfect. But the "transcode and split" part did not run. I 
get the following error messages:

It seems to be a perl-problem, but I'm quit unfamiliar with it.
Any hints?

PS since actualization of my Ubuntu today the characters of the 
dvd::rip-windows became quite unreadable. Qt-incompatibility?
