Hi. :-)
Sorry, Triffid (no real names here?) for causing your
bloodpressure to rise. I for sure did not want to be
the reason for your (next) myocardial infarction. :-)

Na... I didn't want to blaim anyone. It's at most the communities fault
(and that's me, Triffid and everybody else), that the race for standards
Linux standards (especially as far as multi-media software is concerned)
is going incredibly slow.
And it's nobody's fault but mine, that I'm to lazy to build from source
and prefer binary instead.

I should have thought of that. Yes, right. Let's forget about the
about the "static version".

I currently do have to reboot Windows, to rip a DVD, and would very
much more like to (re)boot Linux instead. :-) But as I already stated in my
original message: Damn Small offers the possibility to be booted in
a qemu-enviroment and thus inside of Linux (or even Windows). OK... this
*is* definetly annoyingly slow, but good things can take their time
sometimes, can't they? ;-)

Hm... I allready switched from SuSE to (k)ubuntu, in vain hope to
be on the safe (and stable) side as far as the package maintenance goes.
Ok... I was wrong. I should have switched to debian instead or probably
best to the authors (Joerns) distribution of choice (b.t.w. wich one do
you develop and build dvd::rip on, Joern?).
I'll find out who's the package maintainer for kubuntus dvdrip and transcode
packages and bug him about releasing a bugfixed binary.

It'll rather be some flavour of a DSL-distro, I think (if I ever find the
time to even start that project). I'll very much appreciate your offer of help,
then.

Well said!
TNX for your answers,
Andreas
